How do I change the Duration on a template in Project?

Hi there,

I am new to Project so please bare with me!

I am trying to change the duration on a template. I have gone in
and changed the start and finish date however I can not seem to
change the duration.

Help!!!

Have you got project calculation on manual...try pressing "F9" to find

When you say "template" are you trying to change the template itself
(the .mpt file) or a copy of it that you are trying to use as a
schedule?

Also - the way the system works is that you enter your tasks, use
relationships to establish the order of the tasks, enter a duration
and the sytem will calculate the start and end dates. Plugging dates
is not a best practice of using MS Project.

The duration was calcuated so if you are trying to change the entire
project duration, it is not a field that could be changed. Go to
Project --> Project Information and change the start date.

Also - consider a good training class.
