Microsoft and I just redid the Outlook accounts. I used the wrong name for
the profile for one of the email accounts; how do I change it without
destroying anything?

Hi Cindy,

There is a "Copy" option that should allow you to copy the profile you like
to the name you want. Then after you have confirmed that the new profile
with the correct name behaves the way you like, you can delete the other
one.

Mail applet in Control Panel.
Show Profiles.
Select the source profile.
Click Copy.
When creating the new profile, name it what you want.
Set the new profile as the default (if you are not using multiple
profiles for which you want to be prompted when you start Outlook).
Delete the old-named profile (after you check the new one works).

In the registry, profile names (and their settings) are stored under:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles
