How do I change the white background of a logo to color?

I am making a brochure using Publisher. It has a yellow background. When I
drop my jpeg logo in, it makes a big white square with the logo in the
middle. I figured out how to change the logo colors, but I can't figure out
how to make the white background of the jpeg logo into another color.

Look on the picture toolbar for the transparency tool, select the tool, touch
the white background, it will become transparent. You cannot change the
background color in Publisher, that is a job for a paint program.

Jpeg does not support transparent backgrounds. Publisher may be able to fill
the frame, but i doubt it. Mary or JoAnne would know.
The right way > Open the logo in an image editor, change to a transparent
background, resave as something other than jpeg (tiff, or eps).
The other way > Open the logo in an image editor, change the background to
the exact color of your Publisher background (check Publishers rgb, cmyk or
other color value), resave as logo_yellowbackground.jpeg
