How do I compress .bmp to .jpg?

Hello. I have a problem. I do not know how to change .bmp files to .jpg
files. I tried compression, but that didn´t work. I want to do it for
something on the internet.

Open them in nearly any image editing problem (even Paint if they're not too
big) then save as JPG.

Irfanview is free and will do conversions like this a batch at a time.
