How do I control when each line on a slide shows up?

I'm having difficulty finding out how I control when each line of information
on one slide shows up, e.g., by mouse click? All I can find are the
animation slides that applies that design to the whole slide. Thanks for the
help.

Select the text place holder
Slide show > custom animation
Add effect > entrance >eg appear

Usually by default you will get each line appearing on click

If you click the little double arrow below and left you will see each line
separately
