You could enter a table in descending order showing the grade ranges such as:
0 F
60 D
70 C
80 B
90 A
then use VLOOKUP to look the score up in the table and return the letter
grade.
For example, the table is in cell A1:B5 and cell A8 contains a score of 86:
=VLOOKUP(A8,$A$1:$B$5,2,TRUE) will return B

0............F
60..........D
70..........C
80..........B
90..........A
The above table is based on this grade scale:
0 to 59 = F
60 to 69 = D
70 to 79 = C
80 to 89 = B
90+ = A
Then use a formula like this:
=VLOOKUP(A1,H1:I5,2,1)
A1 = numeric grade
H1:H5 = table range

If you want avoid a table then try this,
=LOOKUP(C2,{0,"F";60,"D";70,"C";80,"D";90,"A"})
where C2 houses the score.
