How do I convert exel spreadsheet to works spreadsheet?

I have Microsoft XP home edition. How do I convert an Excel spreadsheet to
the XP edtion "works spreadsheet?

works should be able to open *.xls files. In Works save them as works files
afterwards

If I can join this group, I saved data from the old computer that used Excel.
When I tried to open it on the new computer (that uses works spreadsheet)
it wouldn't open. Seems like the same question that started this thread.
Ideas? Thanks.
