How do I copy my setup from my lap to to my posrtable?

I have 2007 on both machines. I have spent some timechanging the variouis
options particularly in Word including things like lots of stuff in auto
correct and building blocks as well as settig the ribbon the way I like it.
Now I want the same set up on my other machine. I need a copy utility. I am
sure it must be there as a feature but where is it?

Normal.dot (or .dotx or .dotm) will contain all your Word customizations
that you can copy to your other machine but I think the Office Ribbon
customizations are in a different file, perhaps a .xml file. Someone who
knows more about the Ribbon can answer for sure.

The QAT customisation files are here: (On Vista anyway...)
C:\Users\{User Account}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office

But they only appear if the QAT has been customised AFAIK...

Your Building Blocks are stored in Building Blocks.dotx in your profile
under:

Vista: %AppData%\Roaming\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1033

XP: %AppData%\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1033

Your AutoCorrection options are stored in *.acl files, also in your profile
in the Microsoft folder. If you are using US English then it should be
MSO1033.acl. Check the Date Modified to be sure you have the right file.

As for your "ribbon changes", I believe you are referring to the Quick
Access Toolbar (QAT) instead of the actual ribbon. These are stored in *.qat
files at:

Vista: %AppData%\Local\Microsoft\Office

XP: %AppData%\Microsoft\Office

You can copy/paste any of the above locations in the address bar in the
Windows Explorer to locate the specific folder.

Many thanks I did try some of the copies before but I must have got something
wrong I will try again and do the full set that you suggest.

I guess I expected a handy tool to do the job. What do they do in big sites?

Many thanks. I did try some copies before but I think I got some of the
details wrong and I didn't find all of the sources that you listed. I shall
try again.

I had hoped that there was some Toy or whatever to do the job. What do they
do on big sites?

To whom are you talking? Please quote the post you are replying to, as many
of the regulars here do NOT use the horrible web interface but use a
newsreader and thus see your post as a "disconnected" one.
