How do I create a "how to" do your job manual template?

I've been asked to create a template for the team to create a "how to" manual
for their jobs. This is to be used in the event that a person is absent and
someone else has to step in. We're looking to create a step-by-step process
which will clearly identify how certain job functions are performed.

The template needs to be user-friendly so even novice users can feel
comfortable using it.

discover a plethora of explanations and examples to choose from.
