How do I create a scatter-plot chart comparing two categories on .

I'm trying to create a scatter-plot chart using data from two different
samples. I want the two different sample categories to be the two points on
my x axis. Excel keeps assigning numbers (consecutive) to my dependent data
and plotting them against the numbers rather than plotting them against one
of my two sample categories.

Create a Line chart. This kind of chart uses categories for the x-axis
rather than numbers. Once you create the chart, double-click the
series and from the Patterns tab set the line type to None. This will
give you a chart with only markers being visible.
