How do I create a test or quiz with radio buttons or check boxes?

I would like to create tests or quizes like those at the end of Microsoft
training. I can create simple forms with check boxes, drop donw list and
text boxes in word but I would like to make the multiple chose questions
interactive so they can only choose one answer and get feed back if its right
or wrong. I am currentlyworking in Office XP

Hi, Jive Kitten,

Word is a word processor, so any automation such as you describe would need
to be accomplished via programming. However, you are unlikely to find basic
information on how to do that in a peer newsgroup such as this. You might
look for a class or online resource on programming--or for a consultant.
You might also search for a product that lets you build quizzes (either
online or locally on your system), such as Quia, QuizStar ro Quiz Center.
I'm not recommending any of those; they just came up in a Google search.

Microsoft also has a form program called "InfoPath" that might be an option
for you; I'm not sure if the answer feedback that you are looking for is
built in, but you could hop on over to an InfoPath newsgroup and ask the
gurus there.

P.S. You could head over to the programming newsgroups, as well, to see if
there is any information in there. They start with
microsoft.public.office.developer.*

Good luck--

Hi Susan

I don't have Info path so am not sure how that would help. How can I find
out how the test quizes used at the end of the online Microsoft office
training topics are created? I assumed this was using MS products? I
couldn't fins any help on working with forms etc in word and didn't know if
mutually exclusive multiple choice answeres were simply a more advanced
option for these? I don't think programming would be of any help to me.

Mutually exclusive radio buttons are not an option in Word, as it is "out of
the box".

If you want something to happen when someone makes a selection, that
requires some automation / programming in Word. It will be very difficult
for someone to give you support on that in a peer support newsgroup such as
this, if you haven't done any automation using Word before.

How are you taking online Microsoft Office training topics? Are they on a
web site? Probably a web developer was involved to create those quizzes, if
that's the case.

Check in with the programming groups for more information, however. Or with
one of the Word groups. You may find more resources there.
