How do I create a wall elavation for a room in Visio

My students have to produce a room plan using vector graphics then 'paste' a
wallpaper design on one of the walls. Any ideas?

If you draw any closed shape in Visio, you can then fill it with a custom
pattern ... which can contain an image.
You can get some funky effects!
