How do I create shape menus in Visio?

T

tim500

Instead of just having 1 favorites menu of custom shapes in Visio, I want to
create mutliple custom shape menus (like the default ones such as
Backgrounds, Border and Titles, Computers and Monitors, etc). Any advice
would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Tim,

For stencils you could try the following:

1) Add a new folder somewhere in your My Documents folder called Stencils
(eg: C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\My Documents\Stencils)

2) Add another folder to the above for each of your categories (ie
....\Backgrounds)

3) Add a the stencil files to your respective folders

4) In Visio click Tools / Options / Advanced / File Paths... and in the
Stencils textbox browse to the C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\My
Documents\Stencils folder

You should now have a category for each of your folders containing the
associated stencils.

Best regards

John
