How do I delay the transition from slide to slide in Power Point?

I'm running Office Teacher Edition 2003 - Power Point 2003. I've tried
adjusting the slide transition as well as the delays on the custom animation
and the last bullet point on slides 2 of 4 and 3 of 4 jump immediately to the
next slide without any delay or ability to read such bullet point before the
slide moves on. What am I missing?

I've removed the slide transition delays altogether, forcing a manual page
down to advance the slide. I have 5 bulleted items on Slide 2, each with a 7
second delay between each. The last bulleted items also has a 7 second
timing delay on it, however as soon as it appears on the screen, the program
was advancing to Slide 3 before the last bulleted item could be read or
commentary completed.

Do you have "dim after" or anything like that set?

What kind of automatic transition time did you have on the slide?
