how do I delete an email with large attachment in outlook

I have an email stuck in my outbox (96MB!) and outlook tells meit cannot
delete or open as it has already begun transmitting. Having been through the
forum I have tried the first 3 options on the link to -
http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/messagestuckinoutbox.htm. To be honest I
have tried the 4th but I have trouble understanding as when I downloaded the
tool different windows appeared to that that described. I have also rebooted,
reinstalled and left the computer running continuously to no avail. I am
using MS Office Outlook 2003 version 11.8169.8172 SP3. with a hotmail (max
20gb) account.
I hope someone can help. Thanks

So you tried File > Work Offline and then tried to delete the email? And you
tried opening the email, closing it, and then deleting?
Did you try opening Outlook in safe mode and deleting then? Start > Run >
outlook.exe /safe. If that doesn't work try the /nopollmail switch. Start >
Run > outlook.exe /nopollmail. That opens Outlook without checking for mail
(send/receive).

Thanks. I did try File > Work Offline and then tried to delete but nothing
actually happens but when I try to open it says it has begun transmitting.
This is the safe when opening in safe mode and in the no poll switch. I have
also deleted my email account from outlook hoping that might work, but alas
no. Is it possible to restore factory or original settings, therefore wiping
everything in my current outlook files?

That's a bit drastic.

You should be able to take Outlook offline so it has no way to transmit the
item in your Outbox so that you can delete it. At the worst, disconnect from
the internet and then open Outlook.

It's possible as a result of this, your PST file could be corrupted so once
you get the email deleted from your Outbox if you still experience any
problems run scanpst.exe against your PST file.

Thank you again. I have disconnected from the internet and tried all options
and combinations of. Again no luck. Can you tell me how to restore and
delete? I have everything backed up or sitting in hotmail anyway.

Once you put Outlook into offline mode, you must restart Outlook. The
item must NEVER had even been tried to be sent to let you delete it.
Outlook has already tried to send it when you got around to putting
Outlook into offline mode. By *starting* Outlook in offline mode, it
won't ever try to send it so then it hasn't been touched and you can
delete it.
