The print layout option for Word includes gridlines which makes it hard to
read what you are typing. How do I get rid of them?
Display the Drawing toolbar. Click the Draw button at the left end,
click Grid... and clear the checkbox for "Display gridlines on
screen".
This option is not normally checked by default, regardless of what
view you're in; but when it's turned on, the lines are visible only in
Print Layout view. There must be something that silently turns it on,
because we get a steady trickle of folks who ask about it but have
never opened that dialog. What that mechanism might be, I have no
idea.
