how do I delete the recently opened documents from taskpane view?

trying to keep my privacy. If I open word 2003, the taskpane view shows all
the recently opened documents. I want to delete and having zero luck. HELP!

You can't delete them directly from the task pane, but you can accomplish
the same thing by removing them from the MRU list at the bottom of the File
menu. Although there is a way to remove individual files, I gather you want
to remove them all and not keep track of them. On the General tab of Tools |
Options, clear the check box for "Recently used file list."

That will not however cover your tracks. Word and Windows record all sorts
of activity in files and the registry.

But it will keep the casual over-the-shoulder observer from seeing the MRU.
OTOH, corporate users have no guarantee or expectation of privacy. At least
in the U.S., employers have the right to maintain and inspect records of
employees' computer use, including email.
