how do I delete unfiled notes

I have just starteed with OneNote 2007 so forgive me if this is a really
stupid question, but how do I delete unfiled notes that I no longe need?

Do you mean to delete individual notes or Pages on that area, or the area
itself?

If the former, right-click on the Page Tab along the side and select
"Delete".

If the latter, you can't really. It will always be used as the default
location for when you create new Side Notes from the Tasm Bar icon and from
other external locations. Its location can be changed by going to Tools |
Options | Save and change the Unfiled Notes path to something that you
want.
