How do I disable drawing canvas in Word?

I am trying to draw a drawing and the drawing canvas makes it hard to move
the object or select it. Plz help me.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | General | uncheck the "Automatically
create drawing canvas" box | OK.

Tools | Options | General: Clear the check box for "Automatically create
drawing canvas when inserting AutoShapes."
