how do i download a power point presention, what software?

I have recieved an email with an attachment. I was unable to download it. The
only information I got as to why, was that it was a Power Point Presention.
I'm not really sure exactly what that means as my experience with computers
is limited. Do I need to download a particulat software for this. This
attachment has come from a friend who in turn had it sent to him and did not
experience any problems with downloading. Can you help?

Do you have PowerPoint?
If not, you can download free PowerPoint Viewer, which allows you to view
PowerPoint presentations but not editing them.
