how do i download word for windows me

i am in the middle of switching files to a different
computer and somehow WORD no longer works. It asked me to
get the program off the cd - i dont have the cd.

can i download WORD from online and where?

Word is not available for download. You will either need to find your
CD or if you still have proof-of-purchase you can obtain a replacement
CD.

To obtain replacement CD-ROMs or manuals, contact the Microsoft
Replacement and Supplemental Parts Department at (800) 360-7561. If
outside the US see this site: http://microsoft.com/worldwide

When you call for a replacement CD, you may be asked to fax a copy of
the store receipt to the Microsoft Replacement and Supplemental Parts
Department.

Note: If your copy of Office was preinstalled in a computer or
distributed by an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), you must
contact the OEM for a replacement. If you acquired a copy of Office
through the Microsoft Open or Select Volume Licensing programs,
contact the Microsoft Worldwide Fulfillment Office at (800) 248-0655.

thanks. actually i may have the cd. i have a sony viso
computer with microsoft me installed. i just tried
installing the windows 98 cd to see if i could get word
off that. this is my dads computer and he said he gave
me all the cds he had. woudl you know what to do at this
point? or is there another "word" program i can download
from another site?

Office applications do not come with Windows. They have their own
installation CDs.

I'm not sure what you mean by "another 'Word' program you can
download". Microsoft Word is not a program you can download.

If Word came preinstalled on the computer and you haven't gone through
all of the CDs provided by Sony then that would be my first
suggestion.

Otherwise if Word is installed but you are encountering problems then
you may want to post the details - it could be a minor problem. :)

Note, however, that an OEM version of Word/Office is licensed only for the
computer it came installed on and may not install properly (or at all) on
another system.
