How do I eliminate the white space between pages?

On Microsoft Word 2003 all you had to do to eliminate white space between pages was click in between them and it would shrink the space between them. It is the same on Word 2007; all you have to do is hover the mouse between the two pages, an icon pops up with two arrows facing each other, and then click and the white space is gone. Unfortunately, with Word 2008 when I click, or double-click rather between two pages, it goes into header and footer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That option isn't included in any version of Mac Word. If you're simply
interested in a more efficient working mode that doesn't display H/F content
you might find Draft View helpful.
