How do I embed wav files

A

Andie

I am using Front Page 2000 to create my pages and have been for years with
Win98. Just got a new PC with XP SP2 and now when I visit my pages on the
Internet, my .wav files (music) will not play ..... My music will no longer
play in my Frontpage I preview.

If you can help, I will appreciate it very much.

Hi David...Thank you for responding...
You may have received a reply from me in error before this one. I didn't
use this repsonse feature correctly, sorry.

Here's the url of a page that will not play the .wav file:

http:www.andiesisle.com/Mary.html

The .wav is embedded in the lower portion of the html just above the java
scripting for scrolling message in the status bar.

The url to the music itself is:
http://www.andiesisle.com/music/mdyk/mdyk.wav

Thank you for your help ....

Andie, the wav file plays just fine when the web page is loaded.

Thank you for the reply Thomas....
It has always played for me too but not now. I just got this new computer
with Windows XP on it and my .wav files won't even play in my Front Page
Editor any longer when I preview the page or view in browser.

I was hoping someone may have experienced this trouble upon making the
transition from Windows 98 to Windows XP.

I do receive emails from guests to my website now and then who also say that
they have a new computer with Windows XP and now they can't hear my .wav
files any longer .... it's frustrating.

I appreciate your help.

Open windows media player. Click Tools > Options and select the File types tab. Make sure the box
for Windows Audio File (wav) is checked and then click Apply

Check the Wave Volume setting under your Volume Control

I have done that and selected all acutually for file types to play.
That didn't help.
Thanks for trying though. I know that other people have had this same
experience because I've received emails from visitors to my website stating
that they have a new computer with Windows XP and the Windows Media Player as
their default but now they can't hear my music as they could before the new
computer.
I never knew how to help them and I've never received a response back
telling me if they fixed the problem and how. So now I'm in the same boat.

Hopefully someone out there will see this post who has the answer.

Thanks again
Andie

Hi Thomas...
I've checked the volume settings and file types settings .... I checked just
about everything that I can think of ..... I've searched for answers on the
Internet .
I wondered if I redownload the Windows Media Player from Microsoft.com if
that could possibly made a difference...haven't tried that yet.

I'm stumped and very frustrated at this point, but I do appreciate the help.

Have you installed all updates, also consider converting the files to mp3 format.

If you are referring to updates for Front Page 2000 I have not installed all
updates. This a.m. when I tried to access the website that appeared to have
update information and downloads, the page came up as unavailable.....I will
try to find it again at microsoft.com . Somehow I don't think that is going
to help.
I have downloaded all updates for my Windows XP.
Thank you again.

Those as well as Windows XP, you can skip Windows XP SP2 if you want, but you should install all
other updates.

Well Thomas...I got things working.
I should have followed my instincts from the beginning. I went to
Microsoft.com and then to Window Media Player Downloads and reinstalled the
Windows Media Player 10 .... guess what ? Everything is working now. Even
my Front Page Editor is now playing my music in my pages.
Well, I'm glad that I had this experience ... now I might be able to help
someone else with this the next time I get an email that they cannot hear my
music.

I sure thank you for your help....and I do hope you have a great day.
