HOW DO I ENTER DATA WHEN I SEEM TO BE STUCK IN A SUMMATION FORMULA

WHEN I OPEN MY SIMPLE SPREAD SHEET AND ATTEMPT TO FILL ONE CELL I AM STUCK
THERE AND AS I TRY TO MOVE AROUND I GET THE BLUE SHADING AS IF I WERE DOING A
SUMMATION. I CAN'T GET RID OF THE SHADING OR GET IT TO ENTER DATA?
