How do I fade from one picture to another on a page?

I'm trying to fade/transition from one picture to the next on the index page
of our website and would like to know how to do this

The best, and most reliable way to do this would be to use Flash, or Swish
to do the Fade. Anything else is going to be too browser/platform specific
for the effort.
