How do I find out if anyone has an alumni database already set up

Are there downloads somewhere that may have an ALUMNI database, with all the
forms, reports, etc created and looking pretty?

Have you Googled on the topic? Have you checked the Microsoft Office site
for templates?

I have done both. When I Google, it gives me software TO PURCHASE that I can
use to start a database among other things. The MS site only has CONTACT
databases, amoung others that don't pertain.

Thank you. I already saw that one. I actually used the Contact database
online and went from there. But, who made up all the pretty reports and
colored screens for the reports and entering data screens? That's what I
would like someone to do or teach me!

Perhaps one of the other 'group readers can offer a more direct lead.

You may end up needing to "roll your own", to get the functions and features
you specifically want.

I don't think you will find any that will meet all sets of needs for an
"ALUMNI" database. The needs vary from the ALUMNI of Mrs. Smith's
kindergarden, West Whereever High School, East Somewhere junior college, to
Mega University. Each of these have very different data needs for the
database. First and formost you need to decide what data is of interest,
how it is related, and how you plan to use it. Even just the basics can
quickly become mind-numbing. Example Addresses (does each person have one
and only one address?? depends). Do you need only one telephone number, or
home, office, cell, fax etc. Does each individal have only one graduation
date or for example for an university several (bs, ms, phD).

You have asked a question if unanswerable dimensions: Something like:
Does anyone make a home with all the rooms, amenities, etc I need?

The answer could range from a single wide to a Palace --- It depends!

Ed Warren.
