how do I find out types of servers to setup email

Tried to send email from word for first time. asked to set up with Type of
server outgoingmail. same incoming mail. Haven't got a clue what this means
or how to find out what type of server. The on screen suggestions POP3 and
STMP that I entered didn't seem to work. Mcafee spamkiller is requesting the
same info.
