How do I find the name of a specific shape?

I am wanting to select and copy all the shapes from a page to a Word document
except for three or four shapes.

From these pages and MVP sites, I have worked out how to cycle through
shapes but I would like to know how to identify a shape. In Excel or Word I
can refer to a specific cell in code. Please how do I get the name or number
of a shape by looking at the visio page - right clicking on it and clicking
Properties does not provide any useful info!

Any clues please?
Regards
Stephen

I have selected a shape with text in it. I need a report of all such shapes
in the sheet. There are atleast 45 such similar titles and I need a list of
these titles. The drawing explorer lists ALL the shapes - it will also
highlight the shape in the sheet. But - I want to select a shape and view the
name in the explorer.

Hi Shereen,

You can see the name of a shape like this:

- Select a shape
- Choose: Format > Special

If you have Visio 2007, you might not see the menu item. If so, then go
to Tools > Options > Advanced tab and check "Run in developer mode".
That will give you the Special menu.

Hope this helps,
