how do I fit all data into a cell? Excel keeps chopping it into r

Hi,

If you could please advise me on how to fit data (2 paragraphs for example)
into one cell without it automatically taking up 3 or 4 + cells and rows.

If you're pasting this paragraph from a different application, paste into the
Formula bar.

If you're typing this from scratch, just keep typing. You can use alt-enter to
force new lines in the cell.

I assume you're copying and pasting paragraphs of plain text. Try pasting the
text directly into the formula bar (the edit line) rather than into the cell.
Also, you may want to enable text-wrap for the cell.

Hi. I really appreciate the help!! I tried doing this (both pasting to the
edit line and directly into the cell (with just 2 basic text paragraphs) and
it takes up probably 20+ rows (even though it's technically in the same
cell). Is there a way to avoid this?

Hello. sorry to be vague..my goal is to be able to keep the cell size the
same regardless of the data I enter into it. I have a simple spreadsheet on
Excel (version 2002). And when I try to add the data, it takes up so many
rows (even though it's only one cell. I'm hoping there is a way around this.
Mabye a format or change I need to make?

Resize the row after you do the paste or make the row slightly larger/smaller
than autofitting would make it.

If you manually adjust the rowheight, then excel won't autofit the rowheight.

But you won't be able to see all the characters, right?

And still paste into the formula bar.

Right-click the cell and choose Format Cells...> Alignment. Un-check "Wrap
text." OK out.

Hi,

I just tried that but it keeps autofitting. And then it takes all of the
info and pushes it to the right. I'm trying to find a way to stop the
autofit feature, but I can't find it. Thank you guys again.

What does "pushes it to the right" mean?

And did you paste into the formulabar after manually adjusting the rowheight?

It strings all of the data into other columns to the right. Yes, I've been
entering right into the formula bar and then manually adjusting the row
height back - but it keeps auto formatting it to take up several row lengths
in the one cell.

I can't seem to find any method of stopping auto format or auto fitting.

Just got it to work by formatting row height / column width and setting it.
