How do I fix active sync error codes

I am using Vista home premium, in conjunction with Outlook 2007/Mobile Device
Centre and my )2 XDA Orbit running Windows mobile 6.

Up until very recently I was able to fully sync with my desktop without any
issues. However it seems that following a auto windows update I am no longer
able to do this. My mobile device shows the following active sync error code
0x86000107

I have tried all of the following to no avail - Unable to use system restore
to roll back before windows update. Tried using other usb ports. Renewed sync
partnerships several times. Re-installed mobile device centre.Have bought a
new XDA orbit as the earlier one used windows mobile 5, my new one runs
version 6.Run diagnostics on outlook 2007. Searched high & low on internet
for help!

Nothing but nothing works - Helppppppppppp!!! I also know that its my
desktop thats the problem as I am able to sync with my laptop running on
windows XP
