How do I format linked text in PPT?

I use PPT in training a lot and have a need to have text boxes appear and
disappear on clicks. For reasons I won't go into here, I must do this on one
slide, not jump from slide to slide.

To do what I need, I'm able to successfully OLE link to text in a Word doc
and animate fine. But the text is ugly. I can't figure out how to format the
text. Any suggestions?

Is the text 'ugly' because it has the 'hyperlink' underline, or it's ugly
because it's animated?
