How do I format text entered ".50" to show as entered instead of .

In Access 2000 how do I format text entered ".50" to show as entered instead
of "0.5" I have tried changing format in the Datasheet, on the x-axis in the
chart, linking to source and the text keeps coming up looking like a number.
