How do I get a .pst file from an old computer to a new one

My laptop crashed and a computer guru was able to recover and save to DVD a
..pst file which should contain allof my contacts, calender appointments, etc.
How do I get my new laptop to access this data? I tried "open" and selected
the file but got a message that I don't have authority to do this... Any
suggestion?

Copy the file from the DVD to the hard drive and remove the read only
attribute from its properties.

In my experience you can't open the pst file unless it's unlocked, so for
starters make sure you copy it off your DVD to the C drive. Before you
attempt to open it from Outlook, select the pst file , right - click, choose
Properties then make sure the Read-Only attibute is unchecked.
