how do i get a variable into the subject field

so for the past 10 years i have been harboring the thought that

WAS a part of frontpage

mailto.exe has never been a part of FrontPage. It has never been a part
of FrontPage extensions.

it worked with mailto.exe

when the variable was changed from subjectlist to simply subject
