How do I get a washed out watermark to stand out a little more?

Can someone please help me, I have a pic as a watermark but it stands out too
much without it being washed out, but when I wash it out, it is too faded, is
there any way to get a happy medium?

You can edit it directly. View | Header and Footer and double-click on the
watermark to open the Format Picture dialog. The settings you want are on
the Picture tab.

The "washout" or "watermark" color setting sets brightness to 85% and
contrast to 15%. The "normal" settings for both are 50%. So if you decrease
brightness and (if necessary) increase contrast, you'll get a less
washed-out look. You can also do this directly with the Brightness and
Contrast controls on the Picture toolbar that appears when you select the
graphic.
