I've flagged a number of items and they don't pop like they used to in the
old outlook

Are the items in their default folders? Did you try opening outlook with the
cleanreminders switch?

I have now realised that I have this problem when I move an e-mail from my
inbox to new subfolder under my inbox. It does only happen to flagged e-mail
not tasks. I'm not sure what the clean reminders switch is.

reminders only fire in the default folders - see reminder manager at
slovaktech.com for a solution.
