How do I get Infopath to not automatically create bulleted lists?

I'm trying to enter some simple text in an Infopath text box, but the darned
thing keeps changing my text from "1. This is the first line" to a bulleted
list (and it even changes the font in the process).

How can I stop it from messing up my text?

Hello

If you are using a bulleted or a numbered list, this option cannot be
disabled.
Use a rich text box in design and you can format in whichever way you want
