How do I get my files out of compatability mode?

I cannot convert my files, there's nothing that I know I can do to be able to
work on my files again. I can't copy the information to a new document, nor
can I delete/add/update information on my files. Please help!

You haven't really given us enough information. Are you running a trial
version of Office?
