How do I get my Office 97 program to install on windows xp laptop.

When I attempt to install the Office 97 program I have from my Gateway
desktop to my new Gateway laptop, it wont recognize windows xp. Is there any
way to fix this?

What error message are you getting.

Windows XP recognizes the installer for an application not the application
installer recognizing Windows XP.

If you have an OEM installed version of Office 97, it may be tied to the
original computer.

If you have a retail upgrade version of Office 97, the installer may be
looking for a qualified product.
