how do I get my old serial number?

I bought a new copy of home and student a few months ago with my new
computer. My computer had it installed already but it needed a serial number
so I bought it so I would have the disks as well.
I moved a few months ago and the box with the disks is gone along with a
bunch of other electronics.
Then my computer turned out to have a major problem so my fiance got on the
phone with the tech guy and they completely rebooted my computer and erased
everything.

I know I registered my product with microsoft when I bought this. How do I
retrieve that serial number so I'm not on this stupid trial version without
having to buy it again?

It depends where you bought it, if you purchased on line from Digital River
you would have received an email with your Key, you are supposed to keep
copies of this
Either contact Digital River or

prrof of purchase

I have also met this problem before,and didn't find the solutions.

PS If disks have been lost in a move you may have recourse to an insurance
claim, if you have insurance for loss of property
