How do I get Office 2000 to send e-mails?

I can receive e-mail with Office 2000 and Internet Explorer 6 but cannot send
them. My ISP says it is a Microsoft problem.

What happens when you try? Are you properly authenticating to your outgoing
server?

Why can't you send mail? Are your account settings correct? Do you have
authentication set on your mail accounts if your ISP requires it?

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
