How do I get Office 2003 back?

J

jennlynn

I have used the trial version of Office 2007 and I have decided against a
permanent upgrade. Now I want to go back to Office 2003. However, I have
lost the original CD that came with my computer. Is there any other way to
get Office 2003 again?

Do a system restore back to a point prior to the installation of Office
2007?

Have you tried to uninstall Office 2007 from Control Panel? Normally,
by uninstalling the trial programs, the system reverts to the original
program.

Hope this helps.

I did uninstall Office 2007 from the Control Panel and I can still see
Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 in the menu of programs. However,
I am unable to access Excel, Word, etc. now. I tried the repair option, but
it asks for the CD.

According to her initial post, no CD.

| And, let me guess, you don't have the Office CD?

I have EXACTLY the same problem! Trial version of Office 2007 apparently
corrupted my legtimate version of Office 2003. Office 2007 was removed
through add/delete programs function in control panel and now no component of
Office 2003 works correctly. It is most upsetting that I downloaded the
trial version according to the instructions, deleted it according to the
instructions, and my legitimate (expensive) version of the program is now
FUBAR.

Here's what happens for me: click on shortcut icon on desktop to start
program; windows installer opens and prepares to install, then I get an
installation error window showing a missing "sku112.cab" file and requests
disc (which I do not have). A fatal error notification follows and the
program usually does not open. Sometimes, for a reason unknown to me, it
opens. I have tried everything I know to fix it but apparently without this
particular file, things are dead in the water.

Is this file something that can be e-mailed? I have looked everywhere and
cannot find the discs.

It didn't "corrupt" it, you probably told it to upgrade Office 2003. That
essentially means "I don't want 2003 any longer. I want the new stuff."

You need the CDs.

I had same problem. I had to redownload office 2007, install it and
immediately uninstall from add/delete programs. Now office 2003 works
perfectly.

you are making an assumption that is not based in fact, but thanks for the
thought.
