How do I get Outlook to retrieve mail automatically?

How do I setup scheduled email delivery in Outlook (Office XP)?
I'm coming back to Outlook after using OE. OE always downloaded my mail
(pop3) automatically, but Outlook doesn't seem to want to. I can't find a
way to set it up. (I can send/receive manually, so my accounts are set up
properly)
Thanks
Jeff

Tools>Options
Not sure in which Tab as I jumped from OL2k to OL2003
There is a check box to send/receive on opening and another for the polling
(checking) interval. Do not set for less than 10mins

Thanks! I found it.
I was looking in the wrong place - two different mail setting areas: "Mail
Setting" and "Email Setup".
Thanks again

I am having the same problem with MS Office, Outlook 2003.
I log in and it doe s not get the mail until I click the SEND/RECEIVE.
Is it in the "Mail Service" section of the "Control Panel>Mail" section on
in Outlook proper?

Thanks Armor

Sounds like your account is set to 'Manual control connection state'.

(For Outlook 2007) Go to Tools - Accounts Settings - Double-click on your
account - More Settings - Change to 'Auitomatically detect...'

My OL2003 only shows the one option to "send immediately when connected"
(Options/Mail Setup). I recently had to reinstall OL and remember having the
setting for the polling interval in the previous install.

Outlook will perform a send/receiv at startup if you have defined a
send/receive interval in the Send/Receive Groups dialogue. While viewing
your Inbox, press Alt-Ctrl-S. Check the box labeled "Schedule an automatic
send/receive every" and specify a time interval no less that about ten
minutes.
