How do I get rid of a pending approval for a deleted task

Got myself painted into a corner. I deleted a task within
the project, while at the same time the assigned resource
completed the task. So I ended up with a pending approval
for a deleted task. I went ahead and accepted the
approval but when it opens project, I get this big error
box saying it cannot find the task, etc., etc. (which is
true since I've already deleted it). Now I cannot get
the pending approval to go away on my Updates screen.
How do I get rid of it?

Can't do that any more. It won't let me. On the "View
task changes submitted by resources" the Accept/Reject
cell next to the task is now greyed out (actually,
yellow/browned out) and can no longer changed. It has
Acept in it. The superior task are and the
Accept/Reject drop down can be pulled up, but when blank
or reject is picked they ignore the selection and go back
to saying Accept.

You might try the following steps to rectify the problem:

1. Click File - Save As, click Save as File, and save the project as an
..mpp file
2. Ask your Project Server administrator to delete the offending project
from the Project Server database
3. Import your project back into the Project Server database using (Tools -
Enteprise Options - Import Project to Enterprise)
4. Publish the project

Step #2 will remove the assignments from each resource's timesheet, and
should also get rid of the task update on your Updates page. Step #4 puts
the assignments back on each resource's timesheet. Let us know if this
helps.

Really, really, strange. Since my last post and this one,
the offending approval task went away. Poof. Vanished.
Disappeared. I didn't do anything to cause it to go
away. I'm also the Project Server Administrator and the
only Approver, so I know that no one else did anything to
the offending task or project. Weird.
