How do I get rid of Office 2003 (pre-installed)

Sheller

With my new PC came the preinstalled MS Office 2003. As I still had the
disks for office 2000, I've been using that instead of buying the 2003. My
microsoft updated recently installed a security update for 2003, and in the
process somehow activated the 2003 outlook as the primary, superceding my
2000 outlook. I did a system restore and got everything back, but to keep it
from happening again, I tried to delete office 2003 60 day trial from my
computer.

When I did that, it also removed the icon and everything from my office
2000. I did a system restore and got it back. When I check on the
add/remove programs, it shows that office 2003 is still there. But here's
the kicker. Every time I open any program (or restart my computer) it tries
to install office 2003 and it takes 6-10 clicks of canceling to get through
it. How do I get this program off my computer without ruining everything
else and losing all my emails/folders/contacts/calendar appts, etc.? I'm
getting quite tired of the "Installation error: file not found" "A required
installation file sku112.cab could not be found."

I have 2 other versions of office (2000 and xp) and don't want this on my
computer.

As I mentioned, when I did remove it with add/remove, it also removed my 2000
outlook icons, etc. and I could no longer access it.

If all it did was remove your Office 2000 icons, run Detect and Repair and check the option to restore your shortcuts.

I thought that was all it did, but instead of the icon, there was a file
folder in its place that said email. Nothing happened when I clicked on it,
and there was not a version of outlook anywhere on my computer.

Should I just uninstall all versions of office and reinstall? Where are pst
files stored so I know where to back my outlook data to to make sure I don't
lose it.

Because you installed an early version, without first uninstalling the later
version you have completely screwed up the entire office installation.
Use the recovery disks/partition to put your pc back to Factory supplied
condition then first uninstall 2003 before you attempt to install O2k
