How do I get rid of that monstrosity you call the ribbon?

It takes up too much space and there is very little contained in it that I
actually use.

Click on the drop-down arrow to the right of the Quick Access Toolbar and
choose "Minimize Ribbon"

If you mean that you prefer the old File - Edit - Insert - etc menus, there
are some third party add-ins available. Either that or uninstall it and
reinstall your old version of Office.

This should be a suggestion for the upcoming SP1 of Office 2007. We should
have an option somewhere to revert to drop-down menus and not adding a
third-party software to simulate the menus.

We should have a checkmark somewhere in our office apps or by selecting the
Office options "Revert to drop-down menus"

That would ease up the learning curve for end-users, and give IT guys a
break :)

It's not going to happen. If you look at the old interface, you'll see that
there are functions "stuck in" wherever rather than in a logical location.
It just got to the point where they just couldn't make things work.

You won't convince me that M$ couldn't write the new version and address that
problem. And talk about 'stuck in' have you tried to find some the more
often used features? They are WELL hidden! I wish I had my other computer
with me so I could be more specific, but it is in the shop being reformatted
to remove the Vista Virus and getting XP Pro and Office 2003 installed.
Call me a dinosaur, but Vista needed to released after the bugs were worked
out. I apologize for getting off-topic but, ...

Seems you "forgot" there were 64,000 known issues when Windows XP was
released. So......

J

You have proved my point with your statement. XP was released WAY too early,
also. 64,000 known issues seems a bit much for release. I haven't checked,
but how many 'known issues' are there with the 'Vista Virus'? Add in Office
2007 and I'll bet you'll hit 100K issues, or more!

Why do we have to PAY M$ o beta test their software? And who the hell
decided that the new interface was what the customer needed?

Nope, your "point" is "pointless", the software has to be released
sometime. Perhaps the real problem is that it is YOU who needs to stay
away from any software that hasn't been used for 5 years by millions of
people first. And then explore cautiously. You WON'T find a single bug
free software package on planet earth, ever, from any company, period.
