How do I get rid of unwanted formating (/ upon hitting enter)?

Every time I hit enter (in Word and in e-mail), a / appears on the page. I
have to either delete or backspace to get rid of the /. Please tell me how to
get rid of this formatting.

You might try resetting your keyboard?

Tools > Customize > Commands > Keyboard > Reset All.

Are you sure you're seeing a slash/virgule and not a paragraph mark? See
