How do I get the accents on my letters back ?

My harddrive was burned and changed. The new one with Win.XP Prof. does not
give me the accents in French,German and Spanish by prissing Alt+number. What
do I do ?

With the NumPad Lock ON, what happens if you hold down the Alt key and type
in 0224 on the Numeric Keypad? Does it not enter the Letter a acute?
