how do I get the F4 key to work properly?

Under Word 2000 and earlier versions, the F4 key could be used to
repeat the last action performed (e.g. text recently written, a tab,
changing font type or size, etc.) Now, under Windows XP/Office 2002
Professional (German version)this does not work any more. Any ideas
about how I could fix this?
