How do I get the numeric data from a look-up to show as text?

In my query, I have a field (Vendor) that pulls data from a look-up table.
When I run the query, I only get the vendor # and not the vendor name. How
do I get the vendor name to show?

Add the vendor table to the query and join the Vendor field in your
table to vendor_id in the vendor table and add the vendor_name field
in the vendor table to your query.

Oh and don't use lookup fields.
